I finished reading the transcript of the State of the Union address a while ago, as I’d only caught the first half on TV last night. You’ve gotta respect Dubya — this is a guy who isn’t shy about his convictions, and someone I’m proud to call President.

It’s been a long time since my last rant, but this subject has been brewing in my mind for some time now. I am sick and tired of these stupid commercials that try to come off intelligent, but just end up being downright stupid! I can’t so much as turn on the TV anymore before I get bombarded by some moronic “young adults” dancing around against a completely white background to some not-at-all-cool-no-matter-how-much-the-record-labels-try-to-bring-it-back-into-style swing music!

Just yesterday I installed some software I had bought for my father on his computer, and was appalled to see what a mess his system had become. The PII- 266 with 128MB RAM that booted quickly when I had set up for him only a year ago spent easily a minute or two thrashing its hard drive after booting up and arriving at the desktop.

Call me crazy, a wild man, if you will, but I haven’t put a dime back for Y2K. I haven’t squirreled away food, and don’t plan on taking money out of my bank account “just in case.” Furthermore, I’d like to say that if you do, you are a moron. Let me explain, before you go hating me before my first rant is complete. You can hate me afterwards. :)

Recently, I have been feeling pretty down on my situation and myself. You probably figured that out in yesterday’s entry — no news there. But I’m not feeling that way now. Ever have one of those times when things play out so amazingly, so unexplainably right, that you can clearly see God working and wonder how you ever doubted He was in control? Well, I did last night.

This morning I was sitting here talking to a good friend and coworker who has been remarkably adept at dealing with my increasingly pessimistic outlook towards all things work-related as of late. This guy has been a real blessing to have around since I relocated. Sometimes it just helps to have someone to commiserate with in an entirely non-constructive manner. Someone who can genuinely tell you “I know exactly where you’re coming from.” This guy is great for that. Then, he hits me with this: “You should take some time off.”

So, I’m just finishing up my lunch hour (mmmm, grilled chicken flatbread from a fast food joint, all the warm fuzzies of eating healthy without any of that bothersome healthy eating) and thinking about just what it is that compels me to say the stuff I say, and act the way I act. My conclusion: I’m a sensitive jerk.

Last night was the happiest night of my life. I asked the one and only gooselady to be my wife, and she said yes. But I’m getting ahead of myself…

Well, it’s not very pretty yet, but it will be… in the meantime at least it gives me a place to do updates since the last one was around 2 years ago. ;)
